Players familiar with AFK Arena will recognize many characters in AFK Journey; however, the character mechanics differ considerably between the two games.

In AFK Journey, characters are categorized into six distinct factions:

Hypogean represents the game's unique 'angel/devil' faction, known for their rarity and challenging ascension process.

In AFK Journey, heroes are divided into distinct classes,

each fulfilling a vital battlefield role.

The Warrior stands as a formidable vanguard,

excelling in close-quarters combat.

s-level

Characters classified as a-level are generally more accessible through gacha pulls.

Additionally, these characters tend to have lower prices in different in-game shops.

S-level characters stand out distinctly in the game hierarchy.

Despite being unique, this classification does not imply any reduction in their strength or capabilities.

a-level

Characters reach the pinnacle at Supreme+ rank, marking the ultimate tier.

Duplicate copies of a character or faction-specific Acorns, obtained from summons and shops, are used for ascension—eliminating the need for generic fodder heroes.

Three core skills improve automatically as a character levels up.

At Legendary+ tier, the Hero Focus unlocks, granting a stat boost or a unique new effect.

Reaching Mythic+ tier provides an Exclusive Weapon, which adds a passive skill that can be upgraded by enhancing the weapon itself.

The Supreme+ tier unlocks a Skill Enhancement, adding a powerful extra effect to one of the character's existing abilities.

Gear is no longer equipped to individual characters. Instead, a class-based system is used: collect equipment for a class, and all heroes of that class automatically utilize it in combat.

The Resonating Hall allows you to level only five main heroes. Every other character on your account is then raised to match the lowest level among those five, removing the need for resets or limited slots.

You can freely rearrange which five heroes are set in the Resonating Hall at any time simply by dragging them.
